Established by Dr. Marty Kuhlman, an alum and faculty member in the history department, to assist undergraduate students who have a deep appreciation of history and a specific interest in Civil Rights history.  All majors will be considered.

The recipient must be a full-time (15 semester hours) junior or senior College of Business major with preference to students pursuing an accounting degree.

Upperclassmen pursuing a Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in music industry who shows strong potential for success in commercial music. Must maintain a 3.0 or better GPA. Additionally, must meet all requirements for maintaining a scholarship in the School of Music.

Recipients must be undergraduate and graduate accounting majors.

Incoming freshman, current student, or transfer student enrolled full-time and participant in the West Texas Timed Event Championship or a student assisting with the operations of the event

Preference to female. Recipient will be a  full-time junior or senior student having completed one semester at WTAMU and one or more of the Fundamentals of Education courses and must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to secondary education students planning to teach history and/or social studies. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Established by private individuals to honor Dr. A Kirk Knott. Recipients will be junior or senior English majors who show unusual promise for teaching are eligible.

Preference to graduates of high schools in Region 16. Recipient must be enrolled full time (12 hours per semester) and maintain a 3.5 GPA overall for the year. The scholarship is renewable as long as recipient maintains eligible requirements. Application must be accompanied by written recommendations from two educators acquainted with the student.

The purpose of the ADA Athletic Partnership Scholarship is to provide support to students pursuing degrees in agriculture who also participate in athletics at WTAMU.

Mr. Mack Dick established this scholarship in 2015 in loving memory of his late wife, Ada. Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior nursing major with a 3.0 GPA.

AJ Swope was a local musician who expressed his passion for life through the art of songwriting. He graduated from WTAMU with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications and Broadcasting. During his time at WT, AJ was inducted into the Alpha Chi Honor Society, served as the program director for the campus radio station, and was nominated for "Man of the Year" in 2007. This scholarship was established from gifts made by friends and family of AJ to assist a junior or senior who is enrolled in the Mass Communications or Renewable Energy programs and maintains a 3.0 GPA. Motivation for their choice of degree will be considered.

Established by AJ Johri, who hails from India. He came to WTAMU in 1991 for his MBA, and finished in 1993 with honors. He started working as Financial Advisor for Morgan Stanley in June 1993, and has risen to the rank of Managing Director. AJ met his lovely wife Karyna Aldunate Johri in WTAMU. Hence, WT is very close to their hearts. Karyna came to WTAMU in 1990 and earned a Bachelor's in Chemistry. She later earned an MBA from WT. This scholarship is awarded to a recipient who is enrolled full-time in the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business, and has a minimum GPA of 3.25. Preference is to international students.

Established by Alice and Bill O'Brien. Their family has been in the Panhandle since the 1890s and continue to live and work here. They enjoy supporting WT and its mission to become a regional research university to support the Panhandle. Students must meet the criteria for the WTAMU Merit Scholarship Program.

Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student majoring in Sports and Exercise Sciences or secondary education with an intent to coach at a junior high or high school level. Additionally, the student must have completed a minimum of 45 credit hours at the end of the last semester and maintain a 3.0 minimum GPA.

Established in honor of Allene Stovall, who taught at WT for 41 years and was named professor emeritus in 2012. Ms. Stovall was inducted into the WT Hall of Champions and the Texas Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of her pioneering work in establishing women's athletic programs at WT, where she coached basketball (1963-1979), rifle (1969-1979), and volleyball (1964-1969, 1972), and challenged the WT administration to recognize and accept federal Title IX legislation. She impacted thousands of students' and athletes' lives. She passed away on July 17, 2022. Recipient(s) of this scholarship must be a member of the Lady Buff Basketball team, and must meet and maintain the minimum GPA and eligibility standards required by the NCAA.

To honor the memory of Allie Smith Collins and to provide scholarships for WTAMU students majoring in education. Recipients must be junior, senior or graduate students majoring in education with a minimum 3.0 GPA and two semesters at WTAMU.

Winners of contests sponsored and named by the Allyson Ford's Angel's Grace Sch Fnd, but may include other recipients selected by them and WT.

Established by Wales Madden as a gift in honor of his wife, Alma, who is an accomplished visual artist. Recipient must be a visual arts student with a 2.5 GPA or greater. Recipient will be selected annually. First-time recipients must audition before being awarded.

To assist in funding the Alternative Energy Institute at West Texas A&M University.

Established in memory of Alton Wayne Bassett by his sister, LaNelle B. Winn. Recipient must be employed and enrolled full-time as a music major, preferably piano or voice; preference given to a parent, especially a single parent. Also, recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA; renewable.

Scholarships for students enrolled in the Department of Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

Recipient will be a full-time student from Hereford, TX majoring in music, and must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference will be given to a student demonstrating financial need.

Recipient will be a nursing student with a minimum 2.70 GPA and based primarily on financial need.

Recipient must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA with preference given based on need.

Awarded to students of sophomore standing or higher who have at least a 2.5 GPA, are interested in an advertising career and participate in the WTAMU Advertising Federation. Financial need may be considered.

Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in the College of Business with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to dependents of active members of the association. The scholarship is renewable for a max of 8 long semesters when criteria are met.

Established in 2000 to encourage students pursuing engineering studies at WTAMU and to support the growth of the program. Recipient must be a junior or senior engineering major, including engineering technology and computer science with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Bilingual college of business major with a minimum 2.5 GPA

Scholarships for students majoring in keyboard.

Established by funds given by the Ware Family descendants of B.T. Ware, who founded Amarillo National Bank in 1892. Recipients will be students enrolled full-time in the Amarillo National Bank School of Accounting, Economics and Finance, who reside or graduated from the Texas Panhandle and other geographic areas where ANB may have a presence, and maintain a 3.3 GPA. This scholarship is renewable up to eight long (Fall-Spring) semesters if the minimum GPA is maintained.

Recipient must be a graduate from one of the four Amarillo ISD high schools; must enroll in a Teacher Education Program at WTAMU; accepted by the Teacher Education Unit of the Department of Education; and is a junior or senior with an overall 3.0 GPA on their freshman- and sophomore-level college work.

Provides tuition and fees to qualified music majors playing with the symphony.

The $250 scholarship is awarded in the spring semester to an engineering technology major.

Established for students enrolled as an information and decision management major in good academic standing; must be a participant in WTAMU's cooperative education and internship program; and must maintain "intern in good standing" status with Anderson Merchandisers Internship Scholarship to be considered for the next semester.

Established by friends and family in memory of Andrew Duncan, who was tragically killed along with four other members of the cast of TEXAS. Recipient must be a dance major enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester or complete a minimum of 24 semester hours per year. Additionally, the student must maintain a 2.5 GPA.  First-time recipients must audition before being awarded.

Students must be theatre, musical theatre and dance majors who are enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester or complete a minimum of 24 semester hours per year. Additionally, the student must maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA. 

Established by the Carter's, owners of the Canyon Chicken Express, as their way of giving back to the students who have the challenging task of working and attending school. This award gives preference to a current employee of Chicken Express. If none available, second preference is given to a WT student working a minimum of twenty hours per week.

Established to honor the former First Lady of Texas, a 1974 nursing graduate of WTAMU, by friends of the Perry's, WTAMU, and the surrounding medical communities. The scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate students that have been admitted to the nursing program. Additionally, they must be in good academic standing and show financial need.

Provides scholarships for entering freshmen planning a major in business and who have a minimum "B" average with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 grade-point system for scholarship renewal. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Established by provisions of the trust of L. Jack "Jackie" Mercer, a WT alum who was involved in music, speech and theatre programs at the University. Recipients must be full-time communication studies majors with a cumulative 3.0 GPA and 3.25 in major. Recipients selected based on financial need as well as potential to succeed based on academic performance. Scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Recipient must experience an unforeseen financial emergency; also, must be a nursing majors with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Recipient must be a junior nursing major enrolled full time (12 hours per semester) with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given based on need. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Preference is first given to students who are initiated members (old and new) of Zeta Zeta Chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority, second preference to Gamma Sigma Chapter, Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity and third, to members of families of either sorority or fraternity member. Also, preference shall be given based on need. Recipient must have completed at least one regular semester at WTAMU, be continuously enrolled as a full-time student and maintain at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA.

Established as a lasting honor to Ms. Couch's memory and her commitment to and passion for WT. Recipient must be a full-time student actively participating in the LEAD WT program. If LEAD WT ceases to exist scholarship shall be given to Mass Comm or Ag Media & Comm majors. Preference will be given to students with financial need.

Worthy and deserving students enrolled in 15 hours per semester or complete a minimum of 30 semester hours per year; maintain a 3.4 cumulative GPA and must provide leadership and service to the University and community

This is a financial need-based scholarship.

Recipient must have been a member of the Texas Area I FFA Association, and must be a full-time student in the Department of Agricultural Sciences. First preference will be an Ag Education/Teacher Cert. major, with second preference to any major in the Department of Agricultural Sciences

Established in honor of Dr. Turner. Eligible for the scholarship are deserving junior or senior English majors.

Established in honor of the Attebury's and to provide scholarships for WTAMU students majoring in education. Provides scholarships for junior, senior and graduate education majors. The recipient must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and have completed two semesters at WTAMU.

Established by the Art Club to recognize achievement and service through scholarships. Recipient must be a full time art major at WT, undergraduate or graduate, must maintain a 2.5 GPA overall and a 3.0 or better in their major.

Recipient will be full-time junior or senior majoring in Pre-Dental, be a US citizen or legal permanent resident, Demonstrate financial need according to the FAFSA, attend college the fall semester immediately following selection, be in good standing and display motivation, and receive a recommendation from the Dean of the Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences.

Declared accounting major; enrolled 15 hours per semester or complete 30 semester hours per year; maintain a 3.4 cumulative GPA; must provide leadership and service to the University and community

The scholarship is awarded annually to students who are psychology majors planning a career in counseling and have reached junior, senior or graduate standing. Applicants should have at least a 3.0 GPA and must have completed at least two semesters at WTAMU.

Established by gifts from family and friends to honor the memory of Asalie Key Price, and to benefit WTAMU students majoring in voice. Full-time (12 hours per semester) students majoring in voice who demonstrate academic excellence by maintaining a 2.75 cumulative GPA.

Recipient will be student of the College of Agriculture, Science, and Engineering.

Preference to mathematics major or one of the sciences; U.S. citizen or permanent resident; first and second generation college students, students who qualified for free lunch in high school and/or bilingual students shall be given special consideration; enrolled in at least 15 hours per semester or complete a minimum of 30 semester hours per year; provide leadership and service to the University and community.

Established by the Russell's to assist a student majoring in nursing at WT as a means of paying forward the opportunities they had a as a result of their degrees from WT.

Established in 2014 with a gift from Mike Bain in honor of his mother, Barbara, and her 35 years of teaching elementary education. Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior education major with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Established to honor the Evans, who are members of the WTAMU Old Main Society. Mr. Evans is a graduate of Distinction in the Agricultural Sciences Department at WTAMU, and is a national leader in cotton and grain sorghum production. He was named Field to Market's 2021 Farmer of the Year. The Evans' operate a large diversified farming operation in Kress, Texas. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student in the Department of Agricultural Sciences, with the first preference given to graduates of Kress High School. Second preference will be to a graduate of either Tulia or Happy high schools. If no students meet the first or second preference, the scholarship may be awarded at the discretion of the Department Head of Agricultural Sciences.

Member of the United States Air Force or a dependent of an active or retired member of the U.S.A.F. or an honorably discharged member of the USAF. Recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA.

Established by gifts from private individuals who knew Ms. Williams and who benefitted from her long and devoted service to the WTAMU Library and its patrons, and from others interested in assisting worthy students. Only students who are working in the Cornette Library are eligible. Must have completed at least 30 hours of course work with the last 12 hours taken at WTAMU. Recipient must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA.

Recipient must be a WTAMU Lady Buff volleyball player, current student-athlete or an outstanding freshman with a 2.5 GPA and recommendation by the head coach. Scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Established by Beth Brondyke's family so that she can continue to encourage and influence students and future educators in perpetuity. This is awarded to a full-time education major classified as a sophomore or higher who maintains a minimum GPA of 2.5 with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in their major. Renewable when criteria is met.

Established by family and friends honoring the memory of Betsy Dickerson. Recipient must be a full-time (12 hours per semester) education major pursuing a teaching career and must maintain a 2.5 GPA. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Recipient must be a WTAMU faculty member pursuing a doctoral degree. If there are no members pursuing a doctoral degree, the scholarship can be awarded to an undergraduate nursing student.

Recipients must have a 2.5 GPA and be a full-time (12 hours per semester) undergraduate student. Additionally, the student must exhibit leadership qualities and demonstrated involvement in student organizations and campus events and activities, exhibit exuberant enthusiasm and love for WTAMU, is a positive role model for students, and display strong moral values and Christian principles. It is the desire of the donor that the recipient become a member of the WTAMU Alumni Association upon graduation from the University and that a demonstrated level of giving back to the University be apparent.

Recipient must have completed at least 30 hours and be in good standing with the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business.

Full time student in the dpt. of Agriculture with 2.8 GPA or high school equivalent. Should be actively invovled in Ag and/or University activities. Recipient must provide an annual letter recapping their year and sharing future plans. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Established from friends and family and other contributors who have known and loved Bill Lee. The scholarship is awarded annually to a junior, senior or graduate journalism major who has completed two regular semesters at WTAMU and has a minimum 3.0 GPA on all work completed in journalism.

Established in honor of Bill Summers and his daughter, Debra Summers. Bill was a long-time successful corn, wheat and cattle farmer from Dimmitt, Texas. Recipients must be full-time students enrolled in the Department of Agricultural Sciences at WTAMU, must have completed at least 60 hours of course work, and must have a minimum of a 3.2 GPA. Preference will be given to students who are pursuing a degree in plant, soil, or animal science to work directly in crop science, animal science, crop production, or animal production. Additional preference will be given to students who are from 1. Castro County, Texas; or 2. The top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle. Scholarships are renewable for recipients who meet the continuing criteria and re-apply. Recipients are encouraged and expected to find ways to support future generations of students at WTAMU, just like they were helped with this and other support.

Preference to students studying piano and/or voice.

Established by gifts from Max Motley and other contributors who have known and loved Billy Carr Creamer. Awarded annually to students who are planning a career in theatre. Scholarship may be renewed if the student maintains a cumulative 3.0 GPA. First-time recipients must audition before being awarded.

Provides scholarships to students enrolled in biology-related programs, as well as entering freshmen.

Established by Don and Twanna Powell in memory of Betty Bivins, and in honor of Chris Matthews and Mary Schooler, through the Amarillo Area Foundation to provide scholarships for students majoring in finance, accounting or marketing. Recipient(s) must be a full-time finance, accounting or marketing major, must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident, demonstrate financial need according to the FAFSA, attend college the fall semester immediately following selection, and be in good standing and display motivation. Recipients must also receive a recommendation from the Dean of the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business. First preference given to a female student.

Established by the Burgoon's four children: Jim Bob Burgoon, Bill Burgoon, Amy Duncan, and Andrew Burgoon in honor of their parents' dedication to education. Awards will go to full-time (12 hours per semester) sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate (six hours per semester) student with a declared major; must maintain a 2.8 GPA, and must be a member of the Church of Christ and active in the WTAMU Bible Chair

Awarded annually to an outstanding business major with preference to members of Alpha Kappa Psi.

Established in 2016 by the Stewarts, long-time supporters of the university, to provide transformational scholarship support for all varsity athletic teams sponsored by WTAMU. All eligible student-athletes in all varsity sports who are on an athletic scholarship will receive a portion of their aid from this endowment.

Provides scholarships for the students who are members of the WTAMU Cross-Country Team(s). The recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours. Incoming freshman recipient must satisfy requirements as a NCAA qualifier. Returning student currently enrolled and in good standing may be eligible for the scholarship by maintaining a cumulative 2.75 GPA.

Criteria will include a minimum 2.75 GPA and activities.

Outstanding students (national merit recognized, president's honor scholars, Foundation honor scholars, Harrington honor scholars); assistance to waive out-of-state tuition or additional incentives to attend WT.

Recipient will be a full-time junior or senior student pursuing an undergrad degree in an agriculture or agriculture related field, and have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Must not be an employee or immediate family member of an employee of Edward Jones Trust Company.

Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student majoring in any of the Agricultural Sciences fields with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference will be given to high school students from Valley High School (Turkey Quitaque CISD), Vernon Northside High School, and Deming High School (Deming, New Mexico). Also, preference will be given to a student who is a member of the WTAMU Beef Livestock Judging Team.

Recipient must be a deserving sports and exercise major with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Additionally, consideration will be given to a potential coach and teacher.

Recipients must be undergraduate Christian athletes who maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Awarded to a junior or senior plant science major. The recipient will be from a farm family and demonstrate academic excellence, financial need and leadership activities.

Established by Dr. Bruce Brasington and his spouse, Darlene. Dr. Brasington joined the faculty at WTAMU in 1990, and Darlene earned an M.B.A. from the College of Business in 1997 and joined the college as a staff member in April of 2019. This scholarship recognizes Dr. Brasington's dedication to history beginning with his sophomore year at Oklahoma State University when he changed his major from Chemical Engineering to History, and also recognizes the couple's commitment to WTAMU. Recipient(s) must be in enrolled at WTAMU, have completed at least 12 hours at WTAMU, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to History majors, but students pursuing History Teacher Education degrees may be considered. 

Established by Dr. Marty Kuhlman, a WT alum and member of the history faculty. Recipient must be a history major and must maintain a 2.5 GPA with preference given based on need.

The annual scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate criminal justice major who has completed a minimum of 60 semester hours with a 3.0 GPA or better in the major's course requirements.

Named for Brian Mark Beckley, late son of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Beckley. Brian drowned in July of 2000. This scholarship was established to help sociology majors, and selection will be based on grade point average.

Established to honor the memory of Brittany Sarrett, a native of Amarillo who graduated from Tascosa High School and received a degree in advertising from WT in 2010. Ms. Sarrett was impacted heavily by faculty member, friend, and mentor Lori Westerman while attending WT. Brittany's career took her to Dallas and New York, and garnered the Department of Communication Hall of Fame's Rising Star Award in 2018. She passed away in 2022, and her family created this scholarship to remember her commitment to her education and career. Recipients must be full-time WT students majoring in public relations, advertising, or applied communications. Preference will be to students from the Panhandle of Texas, specifically Amarillo, Canyon and Bushland. Need will be considered. Recipients are encouraged and expected to find ways to support future generations of students at WTAMU, just like they were helped with this and other support.

Established in honor of Bruce Barrett, who graduated from WTSU in 1973. Bruce is a graduate of distinction of WTAMU Agricultural Sciences department, a distinguished alumni of WTAMU, and currently serves as a member of the WTAMU Foundation Board. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student within the Department of Agricultural Sciences who maintains a 3.0 minimum GPA, and has completed a minimum of 60 hours.

Transfers to WTAMU with approximately 60 hours of which a minimum of 30 from Amarillo College with a 3.0 GPA; enroll full-time (12 hours per semester); demonstration of leadership with special attention to students receiving financial assistance at Amarillo College.

Preference for students who work part-time, maintain 2.0 GPA and enrolled full-time (12 hours per semester); assist students down on their luck who may be in need of a second chance or who find themselves in desperate circumstances.

Originally established in 2002 by Cerestar USA, Inc. in Dimmitt, TX. Cerestar was purchased by Cargill and in 2004, the plant in Dimmitt was closed. In 2008, the name of this scholarship was changed to Cargill-Friona, TX, though the nature and scope of impact have not changed. Recipient must be a full-time student with first preference to children of Cargill-Friona, Texas, employees and secondary preference to students from Parmer, Castro or Deaf Smith counties.

Preference to students in the liberal arts, particularly those who are interested in studying English, theatre, and related dramatic arts, or speech. Maintain a 3.4 cumulative GPA. Established in memory of Mrs. Sharp, who was married to John Sharp (Chancellor of The Texas A&M University System). Mrs. Sharp was a close partner in her husband's long career in politics and public service. She was a renowned philanthropist and was involved in many community and humanitarian efforts, particularly for women, children and young people. This scholarship will be awarded to a recipient who meets the criteria of the WTAMU Merit Scholarship Program.

Established by Chris Scharbauer, who is a fourth generation Panhandle family. Chris received the best care from WTAMU nurses after a surgery left him home bound for recovery. He wanted to give back to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Recipients must submit the scholarship application, and have and maintain a 2.75 GPA. Preference shall be given to students in the Department of Nursing.

Recipient must be a full-time rising junior undergraduate pursuing a social work degree with a minimum 2.25 GPA. Additionally, the student must be involved and active in class participation. Established in memory of Clint Diaz, who was tragically killed along with four other members of the cast of TEXAS. Recipient must be a dance or musical theatre major enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester or complete a minimum of 24 semester hours per year. Graduates of Borger High School who are attending WTAMU and enrolled full time (12 hours per semester) and who have a 3.0 GPA.

Established in honor of Clyde Goodwine. Recipients must be full-time (12 hours per semester) students from the Texas Panhandle who are pursuing teacher certification and who maintain a 2.5 GPA.

Recipient must be a WTAMU baseball player enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester and maintain a 2.5 GPA. Additionally, the recipient must be from the Texas Panhandle, Eastern New Mexico or Western Oklahoma with preference given based on need.

Recipient must be a football player chosen for his leadership both on and off the field of play. Also, the student must maintain a minimum GPA in accordance with NCAA standards. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met or an undergraduate degree is earned.

Established by Judy Fugate, a "life-long fan that bleeds maroon and white." She graduated from WTSU in 1972 and was a pre-Title IX female college athlete. She played badminton and was a member of the bowling team in a period of time that there was not even an athletic conference for the women's teams. In her words, "WT gave me the education to make a comfortable living and have a good life. I hope, through endowing this fund, to help young women who may not be as fortunate. To say the least, times have changed. To be a college athlete today takes an enormous amount of time and dedication. I greatly admire female college athletes of the 21st century." This scholarship will be awarded to a student-athlete that is a member of the Lady Buff Cross Country team who meets and maintains the minimum GPA and eligibility standards required by the NCAA.

Established to honor Jimmy W. "Corky" Dawson, who quarterbacked one of the greatest football teams in the history of WT. In his third season under head coach Joe Kerbel, the team compiled a 9-2 record, defeated Ohio in the 1962 
Sun Bowl, and outscored all opponents by a total of 312 to 115. Corky was active in the ROTC program at WT, going on to serve in the army during the Vietnam War as an Army Aviator, where he received two Bronze Stars and an Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. After service, Corky became a football coach and then had a successful career as a State Farm agent. This scholarship will go to a member of the WTAMU football team who meets NCAA eligibility standards. First preference will be given to the starting quarterback, with the second preference given to a quarterback on the team.

Established by friends and teammates to honor Dale Blaut and his wife, Connie. Dale came to WT from the northeast, playing in the late 60s and early 70s on some of the greatest teams in WT Basketball history. Dale led a WT Division I team to the NIT, and also beat the University of Houston when they were #1 in the nation. Drafted by the New Jersey Nets, Dale eventually returned to the Panhandle. He coached high school girls' basketball and had great success producing state champions. He ended his coaching career at WT as a volunteer assistant for Krista Gerlich. Recipients of this scholarship must be a full-time student athlete on the men's basketball team and meet NCAA eligibility standards.

Preference will be given to a junior, senior or graduate accounting major planning a career in accounting. The student must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Established by the Dallas Safari Club Texas Panhandle Chapter to assist students pursuing degrees that support their mission of "protecting the freedom to hunt and promote wildlife conservation worldwide," specifically in the Texas Panhandle region. Recipient must be a full-time student in good academic standing majoring in the Department of Life, Earth and Environmental Science, with preference given to wildlife biology students.

Awards will alternate between graduating seniors of Pampa High School or White Deer High School who have a minimum GPA of 2.75. WTAMU Scholarship Services will work with the high school counselors to make the final selection. This scholarship is renewable up to eight long (fall/spring) semesters as long as the minimum GPA is maintained.

Dr. Amjad Abdullat joined the faculty at West Texas A&M University in 1998, served as department head of CIS from 1999 through 2013, with a transition to the position of Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business Dean in 2020. Through the creation of this scholarship, donors honor the legacy of Dean Abdullat by supporting student success at WTAMU. Recipients must be a student enrolled in the WTAMU CIS program. Selection will be made by faculty and/or administration working in the CIS program. This scholarship may be renewed annually, subject to the recipient submitting an application and the decision of the selection committee.

From a second grade teacher to Associate Provost here at WT, Dr. Andersen has devoted her life to education. She and her husband established this scholarship to provide scholarship assistance to undergraduate students in the Department of Education.

Established to recognize Dr. Spaulding's interest and dedication to graduate studies at WTAMU. Dr. Spaulding joined the WTAMU faculty in 1994. In addition to her role as a faculty member, she has served in a variety of progressively increasing leadership responsibilities including:  Program Chair of Educational Leadership, Interim Department Head of Education, Associate Dean of College of Education and Social Sciences, and Vice President of Research and Compliance and Dean of Graduate School. Recipients must be an enrolled WTAMU graduate student. Selection is made by faculty and/or administration working in the Graduate School. This scholarship may be renewed annually, subject to the recipient submitting an application and the decision of the selection committee.

Recipient must be majoring in Agriculture.

Endowed by life-long Buff fans, Bob and Cleo Robinson, to honor the history and tradition of WT athletics and to support current and future student-athletes. Recipient must be a student athlete with preference to students majoring in Agriculture. If no students meet the criteria, the scholarship may be awarded at the discretion of the custodian.

Recipient will be a member of the livestock judging team.

Recipient must be majoring in Agriculture.

Recipient must be an agriculture major and recipient of the Randall County 4-H Gold Star. If no gold star recipient is eligible, a Randall County 4-H, Potter County 4-H, or Happy High School student will be selected.

Recipient will have a minimum 2.75 GPA and be a full-time student in Agricultural Sciences. First preference is for student workers in the Department of Agricultural Sciences. Second preference to students interested in a career in Agricultural Extension.

Recipient will be a junior or sentior full-time Sports and Excercise Sciences major who maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to minority students. One male and one female student will be selected as recipients each academic year.

Established in memory of Dr. Carter King, a fourth generation ranch and active member in numerous professional orgazations, to provide scholarship assistance to students meeting all TAMU Pre-Veterinary admission requirements.

Established in honor of Dr. David LaBrie. Recipient must be a theatre major; academic ability and theatre skills will be considered. First-time recipients must audition before being awarded.

Recipient must be a second-semester freshman or beyond; major in voice, music education, vocal performance, music therapy or music business. Criteria include exemplary work in vocal studies, ability, dedication and need.

Dr. Henderson established this scholarship to give back to WT. He credits WT on having a profound impact on his life and wants a student to have the same opportunity to find success. Awarded to an education major with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Can be either part-time or full-time, undergrad or grad students.

Established by gifts from Mrs. Lydia Miller and friends and family of Dr. Miller. Scholarship for a pre-medicine major with a minimum 3.3 GPA of sophomore, junior or senior standing.

Recipient will be a full-time Agricultural Sciences major from New Mexico or Texas. Preference will be given to former FFA and 4-H members.

Recipient will be a full-time student majoring in Agriculture. Preference will be given to students with an interest in the cow-calf/range cattle industry.

Recipient must have completed at least 60 credit hours at WTAMU, be a second-semester junior who has completed or will complete all TAMU Pre-Vet admission requirements. Must also have completed StrengthsQuest evaluation and one-on-one counseling. Must submit essay outlining personal narrative of desire to become a veterinarian, pre-college volunteer & service activities, statement on personal financial investment in education, and narrative on military service (if applicable). Preference given to student raised in top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle, and who demonstrates leadership in 4-H, FFA, or military service.

Recipient must be a full-time (12 hours per semester) undergraduate student working toward a degree in teacher education with a family income of $50,000 or less. Also, must be a Texas resident for at least two years with preferences in the following order: married parent with children living in the home who is attempting to juggle work and care of children; single parent with children living in the home who is attempting to juggle work and care of children; student 25 years or older, married with or without children living in the home; and student 25 years or older, married with or without children living in the home working toward a master's degree in teacher education.

Recipient must be enrolled a minimum of 12 hours per semester, maintain a cumulative 2.2 GPA, be a student in the Department of Agricultural Sciences and have graduated from a high school in the Texas Panhandle. Preference shall be given based on need, students majoring in agricultural business and economics, students involved in leadership activities on campus and in the community, and students working a minimum of 20 hours per week. This scholarship is renewable if criteria are met.

Recipient must be an education major with a commitment to teach in the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle and must also maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Established in 2022 by the Office of Academic Affairs, Ruth M. Brinkmann, and other friends of Dr. Henderson to honor his leadership and tenure as Dean of the Terry B. Rogers College of Education. He served as dean from 2006-2023, establishing himself as one of the longest serving College of Education deans in the Texas A&M System and in the State of Texas. Recipients must be enrolled as a full-time student in the Terry B. Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences at WTAMU, must have completed at least 60 hours of course work, and must have a minimum of a 3.25 GPA. Each year, the scholarship will rotate between the three departments of the Rogers College. Scholarships are renewable for recipients who meet the continuing criteria and re-apply.

Recipient must be incoming freshmen enrolled full-time (15 semester hours) who rank in the top 10% of her graduation class, or currently enrolled full time with a cumulative 3.5 GPA; or a transferring full-time student with a cumulative 3.5 GPA. Additionally, leadership and service to the University and community. Enrolled in at least 15 hours per semester or complete a minimum of 30 semester hours per year. Preference to females.

Recipients must be full-time (12 hours per semester for undergraduate and 9 hours per semester for graduate) junior, senior or graduate nursing majors with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Established by gifts from friends and family of Mr. Cook who have known and loved him. Awarded to graduate students planning a career in mathematics who have a cumulative 3.0 GPA and 3.5 GPA in math.

Recipient will be a keyboard major and must maintain a 3.0 GPA; renewable if criteria are met.

This Scholarship was created to honor Dr. Howard Chamblin.  Dr. Chamblin was an Amarillo High School graduate who went on to earn a degree in mathematics from Rice University and a Ph.D in theoretical physics from Cambridge University. He was a highly accomplished scholar and his work was regarded to be amongst the best in the field. Recipients must be physics majors, enrolled in a physics course each semester and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.

Maintain a 3.4 GPA; Recipient must provide leadership and service to the University and community, be enrolled in at least 15 hrs per semester or 30 hrs per year

Established in recognition of Dr. Calvi's long service to students and faculty of WT. Recipient will be a political science or criminal justice major with 30 hours or a graduate student in criminal justice. Student must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Established to honor Dr. Jenny Lind Porter, a publisher, poet, and author, and a former professor of English at WTSU. The recipients must be current students, and will be selected by faculty from History, English, and Communications through a writing contest. Students will write a potential article for the Panhandle-Plains Historical Review, a historical journal which publishes articles on historical aspects of the Texas Panhandle, Texas and the Southwest. This scholarship recognizes Dr. Mallard's interest and dedication to the academic discipline of communication. Dr. Mallard joined the faculty at West Texas A&M University in 2002, transitioning to the position of Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts & Humanities Dean in 2011. Recipient must be a Caprock High School, Amarillo, Texas graduating senior, a spouse or child of a CHS graduate, demonstrate financial need, enroll as a full-time student at WTAMU, and enter a teacher education program. The student must also have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Environmental science majors with preference given to students with financial need.

Recipient must be a member of the WTAMU horse judging team.

Established to honor Dr. John Pipkin, who retired from WTAMU in 2023. Dr. Pipkin received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas A&M University, and completed his doctoral studies at Texas Tech University. He is a licensed judge with the American Quarter Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association, National Reining Horse Association, National Snaffle Bit Association, National Reined Cow Horse Association, and World Conformation Horse Association. As such, he has officiated more than 400 horse events, including the AQHA and APHA World Champion Horse Shows. During his time at WT, he oversaw the inner workings of the equine program and was the faculty supervisor for the WT Horse Center. He also oversaw the judging and equestrian teams for the university, and was the head coach for the WT horse judging team. Under his leadership, the judging team won 160 nation, world champion and reserve champion titles; and the equestrian and ranch teams won over 60 national champion and reserve champion titles. Recipients of this scholarship must be full-time students majoring in the Department of Agricultural Science with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to an active member of the WTAMU Horse Judging Team.

Provides scholarships for full-time junior or senior premedical majors.

Established by the Trotter's to encourage and assist those students who complete their bachelor's degree.

Students pursuing a degree in music, with a major in voice or piano. Full-time (12 hours per semester) student, sophomore or above studying applied piano or applied vocal music. Financial need will be considered; renewable when criteria are met.

Established by graduate social work students in honor or Dr. Ramakrishnan. Dr. Ramakrishnan has devoted his life as a social work professor to WTAMU and has helped with numerous projects to improve the quality of life for many in our community. Recipient must be an undergraduate and/or graduate social work student, community service and financial need considered, and good academic standing.

Scholarship for junior and senior students planning a career in medicine with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.

Recipient for fall of even years must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate mass communication broadcasting-electronic media major. Fall of odd years must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate member of Enactus or Media Minds.

Established in memory of Dr. Riney, who joined the faculty at WTAMU in 2002. Awardees will be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in education. Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Established by Dr. Martin Kuhlman, Professor of History, at WTAMU to provide assistance for students with financial need.

Recipient must be a Sports and Exercise Science major.

Graduates of a Canyon Independent School District high school who wish to pursue a career in education. Students must be enrolled full-time (12 hours per semester) and meet requirements for admission to WTAMU and the education program. In alternate years, the scholarship will be given to elementary education and secondary education majors.

Created in 1982 by friends and family who knew and loved Ples Harper. Must be Spanish major. Recipient must have completed 60 hours of course work, i.e., junior standing. Must be planning a career in teaching or who are pursuing a graduate degree.

Established by gifts from family and those who have affection for the two persons named. The scholarship will be awarded to junior or senior students majoring in pre-medicine

Recipient will be a peer educator.

Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate education major and member of Kappa Delta Pi. The student must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student majoring in agriculture with an emphasis in plant production. A 3.0 GPA or "B" average is desirable.

Recipient must be a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior student majoring in marketing and must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Recipient must be a junior music major, must receive a letter of nomination from a member of the music faculty, and must maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA.­ Preference will be given to students who parallel Dr. Park’s character of leadership, involvement in the music program, and being a nice person and good representative of the University.

Established in honor of Suzanne Blair, who was on the WT faculty from 1969 to  2001. She coached in the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women era, and served in various offices of the Texas AIAW, where she developed the original mission and guidelines of the fledging organization. After coaching, she was a volleyball official at the college and high school levels for 30 years. Recipient must be a member of the Lady Buff volleyball team, and meet and maintain the minimum GPA and eligibility standards required by the NCAA.

Established in memory of Dr. Ted Montgomery, who began the Meat Science Program at WTSU in 1975, to provide scholarship assistance to graduate students in the Department of Agriculutral Sciences.

Established in the School of Music to recognize and honor the selfless contributions of Dr. Ted DuBois to the School and especially to the Band Camp. Dr. DuBois worked for years, even after his retirement, managing the logistics of WT's largest camp. Recipients will be music majors in brass, woodwind or percussion instruments who participate in the band program, and maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA. Priority will be given to entering students, and will be selected based on an audition and interview. If no entering student is eligible, then continuing students will be considered. 

First consideration will be given to an incoming female athlete, who graduated from Canyon High School and participated in the Lady Eagle basketball or volleyball program and now plays for WT; must maintain a 2.75 GPA as an Education major. In the event that no one is found meeting the criteria, another “future teacher” collegiate basketball or volleyball player of any classification may be recommended. Must be recommended by the head coach of the WT program inwhich they participate.

Scholarship recipient must be a full-time agriculture major.

Awarded to worthy and deserving full-time junior or senior students who maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA overall with preference to students majoring in pre-medicine or pre-dental.

Established in memory of Dr. Timothy Atchison, who joined the faculty at WTAMU in 2002. He was recognized for his outstanding work in the classroom from 2010-2011 with the Instructional Excellence Award. Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student with a high GPA. Also, the student must be a psychology major, neuroscience certificate student, or student intending to pursue graduate studies in psychology or school psychology.

Established to honor Dr. Hanson, who joined the WTAMU Art, Communication and Theatre Department in the Fall of 1989. In 2006, she was named the first Department Chair for the newly formed Communication Department. She has served as the sponsor/coordinator for the WTAMU chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, coordinated the Communication Hall of Fame since its inception, directed the annual storytelling festival produced by the Panhandle Storytelling Guild, and served as president of the Texas Speech Communication Association, and more. This scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior communication studies major who has been at WT for at least one semester, and is involved with organizations within the department, including Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Honors Society and/or the Panhandle Storytelling Guild.

Established by Dr. Neil and Anne Macy Terry, who joined the faculty at West Texas A&M University in 1997. This scholarship recognizes Dr. Macy's interest in the academic discipline of dance as a field of enrichment. Macy earned a minor in dance at the University of South Dakota as an undergraduate, and continues her appreciation today by watching numerous outstanding offerings put forth by the dance program at WTAMU.

Established by gifts from family and friends in honor of Dr. Dudley Moore, who practiced medicine in Canyon from 1951 until 1991. After his retirement, he auditioned and was accepted into the WTAMU Symphonic Band. Additionally, he was a member of a band known as the Fabulous Five, which performed for years around the Panhandle raising funds for a WT band scholarship. Dedicated WTAMU band members who promote band spirit.

Faith Dulaney read an article in the Texas COOP about the shortage of large animal vets in the Texas Panhandle and how the VERO program was working to address that issue. She was inspired to start an endowed scholarship targeted towards WT students who want to study to become a large animal vet.

Recipient must be transferring from the Amarillo College Moore County campus, enroll in at least 12 hours per semester or complete a minimum of 24 semester hours per year, and maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA.

Duncan and Boyd employees and their children. Freshmen through senior who have a 2.0 GPA overall.

Established in 2014 to provide scholarships to Rogers Lead WT students.

Employee, spouse of an employee, or employee dependent of the W.T. Waggoner Estate. Full-time student enrolled in 12 hours per semester. Maintain atleast a 2.5 GPA for first two years; thereafter, maintain a GPA of at least 3.0.

Recipient must be an accounting, economics or finance major with preference to juniors, seniors and graduate students with a 3.0 GPA or above and also, preference to a veteran and/or a nontraditional student. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Provide two math awards annually-one to an outstanding junior math major and one to an outstanding math education major.

Recipient must be enrolled in at least 15 hours per semester or complete a minimum of 30 semester hours per year, maintain a cumulative 3.4 GPA, and provide leadership and service to the University and community. Additionally, the student must have been a graduate of high school in (first choice) Angleton, Canyon, Dumas, Stratford or Vega, Texas; or (second choice) any high school in the Texas Panhandle. The student must have a sincere interest and desire in acquiring teaching credentials to teach in an elementary or secondary school in the state of Texas. Recipients must be College of Agriculture, Science and Engineering majors with a 3.0 or higher GPA. Need and leadership will be considered.

This fund was developed as part of the I AM WT faculty/staff campaign by faculty and staff of the ECS department to provide scholarships to Entineering and Computer Science students. The recipient must be a full-time student in the School of Engineering and Computer Science.

Established by the School of ECSM in 2017 to provide academic scholarships to recruit and retain outstanding students.

Recipient must be a full-time (12 semester hours) junior nursing major with a minimum 3.0 GPA and preference based on need. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Recipient must be an undergraduate full-time female student majoring in education or intend to teach with a 2.5 GPA. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Established by family and friends of Edna Graham. Recipient must have at least 24 hours of mathematics credit before consideration will be given. In considering students of equal rank, preference will be given to the student who has the most hours in mathematics. Additionally, at least 30 hours must be earned at WTAMU before consideration will be given; preference among students of equal rank will be given to those who have done all their work at WTAMU. Recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in mathematics courses, be a good citizen and show good qualities of leadership. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Education Credit Union has established this scholarship to support a growing need for resources and education in the field of renewable energy. Recipient must be a full-time student interested in wind energy.

Recipient must be a full-time engineering major and have a 2.5 GPA or the high school equivalent.

Recipient must be a full-time (12 hours per semester) special education major with preference to students interested in learning disabilities.

Named in memory of Ellis Moore, who farmed for 50 years in the Sunray area with his brother, Tom. Ag Producers Co-op established the fund to financially assist students from their service area which serves members for all 26 Texas Panhandle counties. Students must have graduated high school in the top 26 counties, plus Hale and Lamb. Preference will be given to students who maintain a 2.5 GPA. Preference will also be given to students who demonstrate financial hardship. One-time award to an incoming freshman.

This scholarship was started to endow a scholarship to assist students in education to pursue their teaching certificates. Recipient will be a full-time Education major pursuing a teaching certificate.

Established in memory of Dr. Emilio Caballero, who taught his first class of students at West Texas State University in 1949. He impacted the lives of thousands of students while also contributing significantly to the area's cultural enrichment. The recipient must be an art major.

Be a WTAMU voice major who successfully auditions for the Executive Director of the Amarillo Opera and is selected to perform in its productions.

Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior pre-veterinary medicine major with a cumulative 3.5 or higher GPA. Preference given to students with financial need.

Created by a gift from the Amarillo Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute. Recipient must be a full-time engineering or engineering technology major. Preference will be given based on academic performance.

Recipient must be an ECSM student, must be a resident of Texas, and must demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA.

Established by WT Athletics to be managed by the head coach of the WT Equestrian Team in the Agriculture department.

Established by the Conchula's, who met at WT while on the bowling team. They were both first-generation students and had to pay for college on their own. Eric graduated witha BS in Sports and Exercise Science, while Gabrielle graduated with a combined degree (BBA/Master of Professional Accounting). Creating a scholarship is important to them because they would not be where they are today professionally without generous donors that provided scholarship opportunities. Recipients will be full-time students in the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to accounting majors. Scholarships are renewable for recipients who meet the continuing criteria and re-apply each year.

Eric Barry graduated from WTAMU in 2004 after studying both music and business. After deciding to pursue music full-time, he earned a master's degree and an artist diploma from Yale University. His accomplished singing career includes engagements with many of the top opera houses, symphonies and popular venues from around the world. He has been featured on seven commercial operatic albums, numerous concerts on BBC Radio, NPR, and other international broadcasts, as well as several PBS documentaries. Eric, originally from Sundown, Texas, now resides in Amarillo with his wife and daughter. This scholarship will be presented to the winners of an annual vocal competition sponsored by the WT Opera Program. Recipient will be a full-time student, with preference to students planning to pursue a vocal performance career. Recipient from be enrolled in applied voice lessons at WTAMU.

Established in memory of Eric Harrison, who was tragically killed along with four other members of the cast of TEXAS, two of whom were also WTAMU students. Recipient must be a theatre major enrolled in at least 12 hours per semester or complete a minimum of 24 semester hours per year. Additionally, the student must maintain a 2.5 GPA. First-time recipients must audition before being awarded.

The award will be made to benefit all scholarship athletes in men's cross-country.

Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six hours and maintain a 2.0 GPA. If not registered with Student Disabilities Services (SDS), student must provide documentation of disability to the SDS office. With the application, submit an essay on "How have you overcome the challenges of your disabilities?" and send via email attachment to scholarships@wtamu.edu.

Recipient must be a graduate of Dalhart High School and enrolled full-time (15 hours per semester) or complete a minimum of 30 semester hours per year and maintain a 3.4 GPA. Additionally, the student must provide leadership and service to the University and community; renewable.

Established by Evelyn Jenkins in memory of Wayne. Wayne Jenkins graduated from WT in 1980 with a degree in general business. He passed away on March 29, 2017. Evelyn Jenkins received her degree in business from WT in 1984. They have supported the athletics programs at WT for many years. This scholarship will go to a full-time student-athlete who meets the eligibility standards required by the NCAA. Preference will be given to a student-athlete with a GPA of 3.5 or above.

The Faith Medical Clinic Nursing Scholarship was started at WTAMU by the clinic's owners, Levin and Gloria Fuller. Recipient will be a full-time Nursing student, who is a second semester junior or a senior and maintains a 2.8 GPA in nursing courses.

Established in 2014 by friends and family upon the untimely death of Filogomes Alves de Carvalho Neto, who was a native of Brazil and a 2008 animal science graduate. Recipients must be full-time animal science majors.

Recipient must be a new or continuing student admitted to a graduate degree program at WTAMU. Student must be enrolled in at least six hours per semester and have a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Additionally, the student must have completed FAFSA and demonstrate need. Scholarship Services will send graduate students email notification when the scholarship is available and interested students must write a short response of no more than 200 words answering two questions, details will be included in the email. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Recipient must be accepted to WTAMU, major in music, and audition for the music department. Additionally, recipient will maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

The scholarship will fund nine individual scholarship awards annually with two from the College of Business, two from the Department of Agriculture, one from the Department of Education and four University-wide. Recipients must be juniors, seniors, or graduates with a declared major and degree plan in that major. Emphasis shall be given, but not limited, to students from the Panhandle or South Plains regions of Texas. Student will be required to write a short personal biography and prepare to be personally interviewed about the information in their scholarship application. Students must maintain a good standing with the University and maintain a 2.75 GPA with a minimum course load of 12 hours per semester for undergraduate students or nine hours per semester for graduate students. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

Established to honor Fletcher Moseley, who was an outstanding math instructor at WT. The recipient must maintain an overall 2.5 GPA and a minimum 3.0 GPA for all course work in the School of Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics. The student must be an underclassman who shows outstanding achievement in the field of abstract and/or linear algebra.

The scholarship provides funds to students who wish to pursue a career in agriculture and is awarded based on scholarship, need and/or leadership.

Established by the family of Floyd McAlister, to continue his love and passion for agricultural education, as well as preserve the high morals that Floyd believed in. Mr. McAlister was a many of many talents and great faith. He was inducted into the New Mexico 4-H Hall of Fame in 2006. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA, be from a rural agricultural production family, been a member of both 4-H and FFA, and attend a dinner with the McAlister family members at the beginning and end of each semester that the scholarship is received.

Established by Louise Forman in honor of Dr. Fred Rathjen, a former professor of history at WT. Recipient must be a graduate or have upper level classification majoring in history or education with an emphasis on history. Preference will be given to researchers in Texas topics, but awards may also be made to students conducting research in other historical fields. Also, past performance and potential of the individual may be taken into consideration. Additionally, GPA will be a factor in evaluation, but not necessarily the determinant.

Recipient must be a full-time (12 hours per semester) junior, senior or graduate education major with a cumulative 3.0 GPA and completed two semesters at WTAMU.

The recipient must be a graduate student majoring in History, English, or Philosophy enrolled in at least 6 graduate hours per semester or complete a minimum of 12 semester hours per year. Additionally, the recipient must maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA and provide leadership and service to the University and community. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

National Merit Recognized, President's Honor Scholars, WT Student Foundation Honor Scholars or Don and Sybil Harrington Honor Scholars who need financial assistance.

Established by gifts from family and friends of Frank and Patsy Heflin to provide scholarships for full-time junior and senior students with an overall 3.0 GPA. First preference will be given to history majors and second preference to elementary education majors. Renewable if criteria are met.

Freshmen from high schools in the northernmost 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.­ Selection of the recipient is competitive with class rank, 85 avg or 2.5 GPA, ACT/SAT scores considered, and demonstration of leadership required; renewable.­

The award is given to the outstanding freshman computer science student. Recipient must have completed six hours of computer science courses by the end of his or her freshman year with a 3.5 GPA overall and within computer science.

Established in recognition of Professor Marsh's long service to students and faculty. Marsh began teaching Political Science at WTSU in 1965, and was named Professor Emeritus of Political Science in 2002. This scholarship will be awarded to a Political Science major with 30 hours, nine of which need to be completed Political Science courses. Must have a 2.5 minimum GPA.

Recipient will be a full-time student pursuing a major in chemistry or physics, have and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, and have served as a lab assistant in CHEM 1405, CHEM 1411, or CHEM 1412.

Scholarships to "interns in good standing."

Recipient must be a football player enrolled as a full-time student (15 semester hours) or complete a minimum of 30 semester hours per year and maintain a 3.4 GPA. ­ Additionally, the student must provide leadership and service to the University and community; renewable.

Entering freshmen students must be in the top quarter of their high school graduating class and must maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA. Sophomore and junior students must maintain a cumulative 2.7 GPA and senior students must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students enrolled in the following high-needs areas of the teacher preparation program: mathematics, science (including life science and physical science), special education, languages other than English, technology and bilingual education. Additional qualifications may be determined by WTAMU. The scholarship is renewable when criteria are met.

The Education Credit Union feels that the dedication and commitment of teachers to the children in our communities helps to shape the future for all of us. This scholarship will be awarded to an education major planning a career in teaching, who also must have a minimum 3.25 GPA.

Preference is first given to students who are initiated members (old and new) of Gamma Sigma Chapter, Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity, second preference to Zeta Zeta Chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority and third, to members of families of either the fraternity or sorority. Also, preference shall be given based on need. Applicants must have completed at least one regular semester at WTAMU, be continuously enrolled as a full-time student and maintain at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA.

Established by the West Texas A&M University Foundation to honor Gary and Cindy Barnes for their service to WTAMU. Both are graduates of WTAMU, and the majority of their careers have been spent in devotion to the University and its students. This award will assist undergraduate or graduate transfer students who have completed 24 credit hours or more before attending WTAMU. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Alongside his wife, Mariellen, the couple influenced music at WT for nearly four decades. Recipients will be WTAMU band students. Established to encourage area criminal justice personnel to continue developing their academic skills and knowledge, and to reinforce their professional ties to the community. The student must be employed full-time with an area criminal justice agency in law enforcement or corrections for Deaf Smith, Potter or Randall counties. Also, enrolled in six or more hours in classes applicable to a degree in criminal justice or an allied field (psychology, sociology, political science, or public administration).

Incoming freshmen must have a minimum 21 ACT score and continuing students must have a minimum 2.8 GPA. The student must sign a commitment statement to work in the Texas Panhandle for one year for each year of scholarship support.

Established by Sandy Stout as a tribute to Professor Helen Blackburn in recognition of her teaching and performance excellence. She was a flute player, and her daughter studied flute with Ms. Blackburn. Prior to her death, Ms. Stout sought a way in her words, "to make a difference," and ultimately chose to endow a scholarship to honor Ms. Blackburn. Recipient will be a flute major pursuing a degree in music who has completed at least two semesters at WT, maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrates outstanding musicianship, motivation and artistry, and demonstrates financial need.

Established in memory of Jack Duncan Rhodes, who lived in Amarillo all of his life and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. This scholarship will assist students enrolled in the College of Education and Social Sciences who are pursuing a degree in education. Applicant must be planning a career in public education, with a preference for elementary education, and must maintain a 3.2 GPA. Academic achievement and leadership performance will be considered. This scholarship is for someone who will carry on her passion for livestock and people; and hardworking individual that wants to succeed by helping others. Ms. Eubank was an outstanding high school history teacher who was twice awarded as Texas State Teacher of the Year. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time social studies/history major seeking teaching certification. Recipients(s) must maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA. Preference to female students. Established by friends and family of Janis Hayden, who graduated from West Texas State University and spent her career teaching mathematics. While attending WT, she was a member of Chi Omega and met her husband, Don, a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. They were married in the J.A. Hill Chapel on campus. This will be awarded to a recipient from the Panhandle/South Plains region of Texas (no further south than Yoakum and no further east than Stonewall counties), who is an education major. Preference is to a student planning to major in mathematics education.

Jeanne Wright grew up in Happy, Texas and attended West Texas A&M University. However, she did not graduate. She is an excellent 4-H leader in Swisher County. Her career has been associated with farming, banking and livestock production. This scholarship was established to provide scholarship assistance to students in the Department of Agriculture Sciences.

Jeff is the COO of AT&T, with over 27 years of experience at the company in a variety of strategic, operational, and technology leadership roles. This award will go to a junior or senior undergraduate student(s) or a graduate student(s) enrolled full-time. Students must be pursuing a degree in the College of Business, be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.75 GPA (undergrad) or 3.25 GPA (graduate). Must also display excellent leadership qualities aligned with the values of the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business. This scholarship is renewable as long as criteria met.

Ms. Buskirk is the Executive Vice President and General Manager of AT&T markets. She has served in various significant roles during her remarkable career. Jennifer's contributions to the tech industry have earned her acclaim as one of the "Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology." This award will go to a junior, senior or graduate student enrolled full-time in the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business, who is in good academic standing with a minimum 2.75 GPA (undergrad) or 3.25 GPA (graduate). Recipient must display excellent leadership qualities aligned with the values of the Engler College of Business, and be a member of the Women in Business Student Organization. Established in memory of Jenny Hamilton, a kind and loving soul that emanated from her faith in God. She had an abundant capacity to share her love and enthusiasm for life with her family, as well as each student who entered her classroom. This scholarship is set up to help pave the way for other inspiring teachers to be added to this world. Recipient(s) should maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75, and be in alignment with the donor's intent in establishing the scholarship, the student should understand and respect the values and beliefs of the donor. Preference is to students who reside in the Top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.

Established by family and friends, this scholarship honors Jerry Behrens. Jerry played for the Buffs from 1958-1962 while earning a Bachelor of Science in 1962 and a Master of Education in 1965. After graduation, he found success as a football coach, winning a state title in 1965 with Odessa Permian High School before returning to coach at WT from 1971-1977. He was an avid supporter of WT athletics as a member of the "T" Club and the Buffalo Club. Recipient will be full-time undergraduate student who maintains a minimum 2.5 GPA with preference given to a football player who embodies the Behrens legacy.

Established by friends, colleagues, and community leaders in honor of Jerry H. Neal for his 26 years of dedicated services to the City of Amarillo and the surrounding communities. Student must be majoring in criminal justice.­ Preference will be given based on need and also Amarillo police officers, employees of the city of Amarillo who are preparing to become police officers, or children of employees of the city of Amarillo who are preparing to become police officers; renewable when criteria are met.

Established by Mr. Schaeffer, who graduated from WT with a bachelor's degree in 1981 and Master's degree in 1984. He played on the men's basketball team. During his career in public education, he taught, coached basketball, and served as a principal in several locations around the Panhandle and South Plains. Recipients of this award must be full-time students enrolled in the Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences at WT, must have completed at least 60 hours of course work, and must have and maintain a 2.7 GPA. Preference will be given to students who are recovering from the disease of addiction or pursuing a career assisting those with addiction disease. Recipient may be a student in the social sciences or criminal justice, or may be a teacher candidate that is in the clinical teaching phase of an education degree. 

This scholarship was created by Marjy N. Ehmer Dow, Mr. Dow's widow. Established in memory of Mr. Dow, who was a 1938 graduate of WT and a member of the Buffalo football team. Mr. Dow is a member of the WTAMU Hall of Champions. He had a distinguished career as a coach and an educator. This scholarship is awarded to a member of the Buffalo football team who is originally from the Texas Panhandle or South Plains region and who has a background in farming.

Established by gifts from the family and friends who have known, loved, and respected Jesse and Grace Osborn in tribute to their contributions to residents of the State of Texas and the Panhandle. This is awarded to students majoring in political science, criminal justice or a related field with an emphasis in political science or criminal justice who have completed 12 hours in political science and/or criminal justice with a "B" average. 
 

Full-time undergraduate or part-time graduate; preference to students that have completed 30 hours, have one or more dependents, and majoring in Education or Business

First preference given to a student-athlete who demonstrates strong work ethic in the classroom and in athletics and is committed to obtaining an undergraduate degree from WTAMU. Second preference given to a student-athlete who meets the above criteria, but who has expired eligibility, is within 15 hours of completing academic requirements for an undergrate degree, and seeks to complete the requirements for a degree within the next full semester.

Established by Jim and Peggy Pollard, who met while students at West Texas State College and were married in J.A. Hill Chapel in 1960. Following a career in public education, most of which was served in Canadian, Texas, the Pollards retired to Canyon. They are heavily involved in many activities across campus and desire for all students to have the lifelong experience with their alma mater that they have experienced. Recipients of this scholarship must be juniors or seniors, have a GPA between 2.0 and 3.0, and must not qualify for state or federal grants.

Recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student (15 semester hours) or complete a minimum of 30 semester hours per year; preference to graduates from Memphis, TX or from surrounding communities; and participates in high school athletics. Additionally, the student must provide leadership and service to the University and community; renewable.

Established in honor of Jim Hay, a man that was a humble servant-leader. His impact on others in the community has led to many people giving to this scholarship in memory of a great individual. He was a life-long fan of WT athletics, rarely ever missing a football game. Jim was a proud member of the Buffalo Club for many years, and continued his support of WT through the end of his life in 2019. This scholarship will be awarded to a student-athlete, with preference given to a Palo Duro High School graduate.

Endowed by Lois Hull in Jim's honor to provide funding for full-time drama students interested in set design and technical theatre with a minimum 2.5 GPA. First-time recipients must audition before being awarded.

Established to provide intercollegiate athletics with scholarships in men's basketball and to honor the memory of Jimmy Reese, a long-time supporter of WT athletics. Mr. Reese was very involved in the Cager Club, the former booster club of the men's basketball team, and was an integral part of the athletic department golf tournament, which was originally sponsored by the Cager Club. Must be a member of the WTAMU men's basketball team and meet eligibility as defined by the NCAA and institutional standards.

Established by family and friends to recognize and perpetuate the memory, engagement and kind spirit of Joseph Bramhall Hoot. Joseph was born on December 25, 1999, and raised in Canyon. He was a 2018 graduate of Ascension Academy in Amarillo, and was a biology major at WTAMU intending to pursue a graduate degree in entomology. A very kind and gentle young man, he was very engaged in campus activities. He was a student employee of the Jack B. Kelley Student Center and served on the summer staff for residential living. Joe passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2022. This scholarship will go to a student who meets the criteria for the WTAMU Merit Scholarship Program. Preference will first be given to student majoring in biology and then to students with a major in the Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences.

Established in memory of Judge Garland Green (1910-2001) by his children upon his death. Judge Green served as county judge of Hartley County for 28 years, and was never opposed for re-election. Recipient must be a member of Gamma Sigma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order at WTAMU; member participation and financial need will be considered.­ The chosen recipient must submit a 500 word paper on the life and times of Judge Green.

Students exhibiting outstanding character and leadership ability.­ Selection of recipients shall be made on a competitive basis taking into consideration high school rank, SAT or ACT scores or GPA of previous college work; evidence of outstanding character and leadership ability; involvement in extracurricular activities; and past honors received.

Established in honor of Judith Mathewson Lankford by her husband, John Lankford. She graduated from West Texas State University in 1966, and worked for 30 years as a case worker with the Texas Department of Human Services. Recipient must have completed 9 hours in the social work program.

Established by Ms. Judy Fugate, who was a pre-Title IX female college athlete and is a life-long fan that bleeds maroon and white. While Judy was enrolled at WT, she played badminton and was a member of the bowling team. It was not nearly the level of competition in which today's athletes compete. There was not even an athletic conference for the women's team during that period of time. To say the least, times have changed. Ms. Fugate says, "I greatly admire female college athletes of the 21st century." Judy was fortunate enough that her parents could put her through college. "WT gave me the education to make a comfortable living and have a good life. I hope, through endowing a scholarship, to help young women who may not be as fortunate."  This scholarship will go to a full-time female student-athlete classified as sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate, and maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Established in honor of Ms. Killebrew, wife of Dr. Flavius Killebrew who after working for WTAMU for almost 30 years, left to take the honorable job of President of Texas A&M Corpus Christi in 2005. Students who exhibit strong interest in the fine arts.­ Students must take two to four hours of fine arts classes during the semester the scholarship award is given.­ Students who are Stepping Out graduates will be given first consideration and priority.­ Student must be able to prove financial need.­ First-time recipients may need to audition before being awarded.

If a career is education is not viable, the recipient may have the option of entering the professional guidance and counseling industry. Additionally, student must have a letter of recommendation from an employer or a mass communication organization advisor.

After graduation, he was cast in a major role of A Chorus Line where he flourished for almost 10 years. In 1982, he originated the role of Coricopat when CATS opened on Broadway. Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate musical theatre or dance majors. Competitive auditions will be conducted by members of the WTAMU theatre, musical theatre, and dance faculty.

Established by Lyndol Bynum Carter, Sr., a retired Civil Engineer whose business endeavors include Southwest Prestressed Concrete, Inc. Mr. Carter is in favor of supporting a qualify engineering program in the Texas Panhandle that allows area young people an opportunity closer to home. Recipient must be a full-time junior or senior civil engineering major.­ Additionally the student must be a U.S. citizen with proof of citizenship.

Established and endowed by Dr. Barry Clark in memory of his mother, Mary Harris Clark. Recipients must be engineering majors.

Established with a gift from Dr. Barry Clark in memory of his mother, Mary Harris Clark. With no formal education beyond high school, Mary Clark always held education in the highest regard. All six of her children graduated from college, two continuing on to receive their Ph.D degrees. This scholarship will be awarded to a math, physical sciences or engineering major who maintains a 3.4 GPA. Recipients must provide leadership and service to the University and community, and be enrolled in at least 15 hours per semester, or complete a minimum of 30 semester hours per academic year. As long as renewable criteria met, this scholarship is renewable for a maximum of eight long semesters or until he/she completes a bachelor's degree, whichever comes first.

Established in honor of Mila Gibson ('66 & '69), who was an outstanding music student at WT. Ms. Gibson taught Opera Workshop and Voice at Amarillo College (1982-2000), founded the Amarillo Opera in 1988, and in 1997 was named Woman of the Year by the Amarillo Globe News for her outstanding contribution to the cultural arts. Recipients must be a voice major transferring from Amarillo College. Student must be recommended by the voice faculty at AC and selected by audition by the voice faculty at WT. Student must be full-time and pursue any of the music degrees for which voice is an applied music requirement with preference given to performance majors. Scholarship is renewable for one additional year provided the student maintains a 3.0 GPA. Additionally, student will audition and perform in Amarillo Opera's two main productions with this scholarship serving as support.

Established in honor of Myrt Wilder, a woman who loved her family, her friends, her community, and WTAMU. Myrt donated her time, talent, and treasure to many areas of the WT community. This memorial scholarship was created to instill her passion, service, and generosity to future generations of student-athletes at WTAMU. Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student-athlete and softball or volleyball player. Additionally, the recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA.

Established to honor Mr. JL Bryan, father of Nadine Crum, a former school teacher and to assist students who are seeking a career in teaching. Full-time (12 hours per semester) junior or senior education majors, preparing to teach in Texas public schools, with an overall 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to descendants of Nadine Crum, graduates of Perryton High School or others qualified from the northernmost 26 counties of Texas.

The Kritser's daughter, Suzanne Belcher, graduated from WTAMU in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science Nursing degree. Nursing has been an important part of the family and this is why they want to help with this scholarship. Recipients must have and maintain a 2.75 GPA and be a full-time student enrolled in the Department of Nursing.

Established by Angie Hastie in memory of Neal B. Scott, who passed away on November 27, 2022. Mr. Scott was a successful real estate investor and owner of the Shapiro Family Limited Partnership.  He expressed the desire to his partner and companion, Angie Hastie, to establish a scholarship in nursing. This scholarship will be awarded to students who are full-time undergraduate students in the WTAMU Department of Nursing who maintain a 3.0 minimum GPA and have completed at least 60 hours. Preference will be given to first-generation college students who graduated from a high school in the top 26 counties of Texas. Scholarships are renewable for recipients who meet the continuing criteria for their remaining studies.

Established by Dr. Neil Terry and Dr. Anne Macy Terry to provide scholarships and assistance to deserving economics, finance and MBA students.

The ACS is the premier professional organization in the field of chemistry. Leading chemistry academics as well as chemical professionals make up the membership of this organization. The local chapter, the Panhandle Plains Local Section, is based in Amarillo and is made up of approximately 70 members. The organization's generosity has made this scholarship possible. Recipient will be a full-time chemistry major, maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA, and be a national member of the ACS at the time of scholarship application.
